Unoriginal but decent

The plot and characters were straight out of the 1980s, which I wouldn't have minded if the ending were better. The hero is super alpha, while the heroine is the poor helpless damsel who makes a deal to save her dad. Nothing new or special, just a Harlequin Presents type story moved to a Western setting.

Captivating love story

Great story, very well written story. Quick read, but moved at a good pace. The h is stubborn but gives at just the right times to make you like her. H is used to getting what he wants but h is realistic and although she easily could be putty in his hands she is caustious. It is a typical love story but the author does a good job developing the characters, making them likable and keeping your attention.

SPOILERS**************

H immediately is intrigued by her, as the h is with him. Her father is having problems maintaining his ranch so she goes to H for help. He wants her to sleep with him in exchange. H takes her away and the two fall for each other hard but neither know how to admit it. When they return neither is willing to make the next move and she finds out she's pregnant.

Both characters you can relate with, understand and respect. Great poolside afternoon read. LOVED IT!!!

an easy read and full of great reminders on how to manage

I'm staring at a book shelf FULL of books on sales management and leadership and can't see one (except maybe my all time classic favorite Zig Ziglars secrets of closing the sale) that I would want to read again. In the 3 weeks that I have had Jeff's book I have read it twice. Read sections to others and made a bunch of notes to myself and referred back to it...

It is well organized and full of practical and very real advice for sales managers and leaders. Thanks Jeff -

Everyone Needs A Great MENTOR (BOOK)!

Jeff Lehman's third edition and very easy-to-read book opens with a wonderful piece of sage advice: "Your manager is either your mentor or tormentor. If they aren't working for you, they are working against you--get out as soon as you can!" The vast majority of sales "how-to" books are focused only on the mechanics of the sales process, itself. Jeff's book, however, is specifically addressed to personally guiding the sales person/sales manager [new or seasoned]. He gives a whopping 365+ practical career-advancing tips and real life insights on true sales leadership. The format is excellent with "mega tips," "top tips," "true stories" and highly realistic "hypothetical case studies" covering 22 major areas of sales management. Included are such salient topics as recruiting, sales training, motivation, managing yourself and [even!] the highly practical reality of how to work for a difficult/bad CEO. Jeff Lehman's third edition is yet another major contribution to those rare tools so vital for successful careers in selling and sales management. As an experienced corporate sales/marketing manager [25+ years of field experience], I am extremely pleased to have used several of Jeff Lehman's titles as required reading in my various sales courses at a major state university.

Esslemont just keeps improving as he expands the world of ...

Esslemont just keeps improving as he expands the world of Wu. He is not on the same level as Erickson, but he has come a long way since Night of Knives. His characters have more depth and growth, and his plot points are decidedly less telegraphed. This book was a definite pleasure to read. Plot-wise, it was not quite as tightly written as Orb, Sceptre, Throne. However, the themes and scenes were much more succinct and visual.

Esslemont is living up to Erikson's standard

Another strong outing from Esslemont. There have been a lot of Erikson's fans that bash on Ian's work but there is little justification for callous regard when it comes to Assail. An enjoyable read that broadens the reader's understanding of the world events occurring outside the main timeline of the MBOTF.

It analyses the dynamics of continuity and change in a political system based primarily on clientelism rather than on broader bonds of interest or ideology. The author explores the concrete patronage mechanisms linking the dominant party to each of the major social groups in the city - ranging from the urban poor to the Mafia. By contrast, the sections on Naples address the question of the conditions under which political machines may have lost their mass base of support.

This book has helped enlighten the big picture of the classical guitar's history for me.

Outdated but still interesting

Turnbull's book is clearly outdated now by more recent scholarship, but it's still a handy reference for classical guitarists interested in the history of their instrument, as well as giving an insight into attitudes during the hay-days of the likes of Williams and Bream, when both artists were still considered young talents. It is written with an optimism and excitement now rarely encountered among guitarists, and comes as a healthy reminder of why many of us dedicate ourselves to this instrument.
The foremost criticism I would now be tempted to level at the book is its treatment of the history of the guitar as evolutionary, leading from the inferior past to the superior future. For example, the removal of double-courses from Baroque guitars is described as an "improvement" rather than a "change" reflecting shifting aesthetics. But this is small criticism for an otherwise highly readable, informative and succinct history of the classical guitar.

Great Textbook

I am a credentialed school social worker who has to return to school to get a school counseling credential to keep her job. That kind of makes me grumpy because it pretty much means I have to get another masters degree and those are pretty expensive these days. Plus, my school social work credential program covered most of the material already so it is a review... EXCEPT for this one textbook! This one book is the one that I will keep after the program is complete. It is the missing material that bridges the two credentials for me. While I don't like the high price of college textbooks, this is the only one thus far that I can consider worth the price. It arrived on time from this seller and was packaged well.

ASCA based, very comprehensive, a keeper!

1) Excellent price. I rarely buy from the college bookstore. I either rent or buy elsewhere. 2)Author, Gybers is a leader in the field of school counseling. 3) Very comprehensive information on running an effective school counseling program, based on the ASCA National Model. 4) It's a keeper. I often sell textbooks back, but this one is worth keeping on the shelf.

Books save frustration

I followed the constant advice to get the best book to work on the best car.

So Far I have not needed to use it but once for the wiring diagram to solve an install issue.

I probally will read closely through it next time I need to do some mechanical work to my car (i have already dismantled my engine once and rebuilt it, runs great)

Book is quality, lots of information, clean dialog, and has reliable photos of the real car.

Problem: This book focuses heavily on scirocco and I noticed has little room for the Rabbit.
Especially my special year model - 81.

Even it seems the sections I browsed through it gives priority to scirocco and jetta above the rabbit.

True though much of the cars are all the same it would be nice to recognize when it says "for 84 scirocco" it means "for 84 scirocco, jetta, and rabbit"
because sometimes it seems to leave out the fact the 3 or 4 cars are almost identical and sometimes they are uniquely different for certain year models.

You would not believe you are eating gluten-free dairy-free food.

I attended a holiday cooking demonstration given by the author yesterday evening. She used recipes from this book and we had generous samples of everything she cooked. The food was excellent, very tasty. Notice that I didn't qualify that as excellent for gluten-free dairy-free cooking. It was all delicious, period. I was particularly impressed with the foldable bread and the chocolate walnut fudge. I bought a copy of this book after session ended. It is very attractively done, with high quality gloss-finish pages and many full color pictures of the various dishes. The recipes are concise and easy to follow. The author frequently offers additional tips and suggestions in sidebars. Best of all for me is that all the recipes are BOTH gluten-free and dairy-free (as am I).

Absolutely amazing cookbook - I highly recommend it! This book has an amazing variety of recipes that are sure to please even the most picky eater. Unlike most tasteless dairy free, gluten free recipes, the recipes in Simple Creative Cooking are flavorful and inviting. It's hard to believe they are Celiac friendly when you taste them - they are fantastic! This cookbook offers everything from appetizers to desserts, with colorful pictures of the actual dishes. Charlene makes cooking dairy free, gluten free simple and tasteful. A wonderful find and a MUST for every kitchen!!!

So far, I've only tried Char's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies. You must be very careful about measuring. It is imperative to try test cookies, one at a time in the oven, to be sure you have enough potato flour. When my cookies spread all over, I added more flour & did get an excellent end product. They are finer textured than cookies made with wheat flour, but such a treat for people going gluten free. I respect the author for staying the course to get these recipes right. My only complaint, is, I wish it was in hardback.
