This read was absolutely amazing to say the least

This read was absolutely amazing to say the least! I learned of From Failure to Promise: 360 Degrees while scholarship hunting, but I wasn't aware of how it would impact my life after reading it. I saw myself in each chapter, and felt like Dr. Moorer was writing my story and not his. It caused me to recall those moments I had to live through, and regain my hope. Hope that I allowed someone to snatch from me in telling me what I would never be able to do. Failure is apparent when you give up and not keep trying. Beating all odds that are staked against you and set in place to stop you. Dr. Moorer's From Failure to Promise, is a book I recommend in all libraries. It provides prime examples of how you can and will do exactly what everyone else is saying you can't. Especially, in front of those who tried to keep you down because they knew the greatness in you the entire time. So in their own defeat they try and defeat you. Great read! I already have it lined up to read again. Its well worth the investment, and I would even recommend it be added to all high school's curriculum.

I am a 17 year old Senior in High School who read this book in one day - the week of midterms no less! I am inspired and motivated by Dr. Moorer and his story. Faith and determination are a must but a desire to continually be a better person is also the key to success.

Inspiring and Real

Reading "From Failure to Promise ..." gives you the sense that you are sitting with Dr. Moorer as he shares his life experiences with you. He is very straightforward, real and heartfelt in the way he shares the challenges he went through, the lessons he had to learn and the difficulties he had to overcome. His humility, authenticity and strong faith in God's power and presence in his life are a testament to the fact that God has a purpose for each of us and He is the one who gives us victory. This book is inspirational and includes a great deal of helpful and encouraging strategies for experiencing the life God created each of us to live. I am very grateful that he has shared his story.

Excellent introduction, but...

I found this book clear and easy to follow. Importantly, it provides plenty of illustrations, which correspond to the "how to" text. It also does a good job of explaining the statistics, and where to use them.

Unfortunately, it does skimp in some areas. For example, the book does not provide examples where multiple select parameters or transformation factors are used.

6 basic fears that limped our abilities to succeed

This is an essay on the six most influential fears that hold us back from succeeding at anything. It does not elaborate on the subjects given but does give other sources to expand on some of the subjects given. It is a good read that is short and sweet. You may just want to barrow it to read first but I kept it as a reminder of what can hide in the back of ones mind if they let fear get the best of them.

Sussman), Introduction to Criminology (7th edition), Crime Types and Criminals, Research Methods in Criminal Justice and Criminology (8th edition), Essentials of Research Methods in Criminal Justice, Political Crime, White Collar Deviance (with David Simon), and The Language of Research (with Pamela Tontodonato).

About the Author

In his teens, Russell Heath hitchhiked to Alaska and lived in a cabin on the banks of the Tanana River. In his twenties, he lived in Italy and then traveled overland across the Sahara, through the jungles and over the savannas of Africa and into southern Asia. In his thirties, he sailed alone, in a 25 foot wooden boat, around the world. In his forties, he wrote novels. And in his fifties, he bicycled the spine of the Rockies from Alaska to Mexico. He’s worked on the Alaska Pipeline, as an environmental lobbyist in the Alaska Legislature, and run a storied environmental organization fighting to protect Alaska’s coastal rainforests. Several years ago, he moved to New York City to dig deep into leadership development and coaching. He now coaches business and non-profit leaders as well as people who want to live rich, hand-crafted, masterful lives.

I am absolutely the richer for reading this book!!

Broken Angels is well written with words that painted the varied Alaskan landscape with such richness to detail all my senses were activated, and the depth of each character was complex and believable. I felt immersed in each character and felt a witness and a part of each one's experience. It was like I could step into each characters shoes. While it was an engaging mystery, I feel Russell Heath truly tapped into something far deeper; the mystery of being human. The inner landscape of our being like Alaska with the right conditions can be soft and beautiful and full of light, or harsh and unforgiving and full of darkness where we give no second chances. Each one of these characters, is truly is an angel. Each one took action based upon flawed or broken beliefs, judgments, and assumptions based on their model of the world, leaving a trail of broken spirits. By the end, I felt only compassion for each character. Long after I put this book down, I continued to reflect on these characters. This novel has made an impact and opened me up to the broken angel in all of us, and perhaps the compassion I developed for the characters, I will be able to carry into the "real world" I am richer for having read this book.

Novel Investment for 2015

Brilliant. Exciting. Engaging. I couldn't out it . I'm not much a novel/thriller reader. However, I couldn't put this book down. The characters were so well defined. And the story had such rich detail that you do not want to over look a thing! If you like Stephen King novels and or watch the tv show Criminal Minds..well this will blow you away. Great investment of time. Took me about 4 days to finish. I look forward to reading more from Russell Heath.

If you are headed to Alaska and want to get in the mood or you've been and want to remember or you just want to know a little bit more about this huge state that is part of the U.S.A., this is the novel for you. Besides it is a fascinating thriller with people you become attached to.

Suzanne is a Master Pastellist and has been nominated to Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Concept Artist for Animation. Suzanne worked alongside Rowland for many years. She worked for Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Fox Animation and Don Bluth Studios. In addition to her animation background, Suzanne is an award-winning gallery artist with paintings in many private and public collections. Gorgeous work, essential for art directors and designers

I had the pleasure of working with Roland Wilson at the Disney studio and often saw his work during pitches. Sadly, I never talked to him (I was in awe, frankly.) This book makes up for that shortcoming. It's literally hundreds of Wilson's notes about composition, comedy, action within the frame, and story telling through color.
It's going to be strongly recommended to my students, and I also recommend it to you.
The only negative is: the artwork really is too small. I'd have loved to have had full page reproduction of most of these invaluable tips. But you can read it, if a bit slower, and so I'm glad that this book exists.

An essential book for film illustrators and cartoonists.

Rowland Wilson had a long international career creating development art for everything from Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid to Richard Williams award winning commercial spots to cartoons for Playboy Magazine. Before his passing, Rowland had been gathering notes on his technique for a planned how-to book. Since his passing, his wife Suzanne Wilson completed and edited his work and it is now available for us all to enjoy.

Rowland explains in great detail his thoughts on issues of tone, gesture, color and composition. Richly illustrated, Trade Secrets does for visual development artists what Nancy Beiman's Prepare to Board does for storyboarding and Richard Williams Animator's Survival Guide does for character animators. I predict this book will quickly be a standard textbook for anyone serious about a career as an illustrator.

If Tom Sito can't convince you - I'll try.

This breaks down cartooning and animation into their essential processes needed to get it done. It uses examples from Playboy, Esquire, and Disney Animated films. The information on NOTAN and color is worth the price of the book alone.

Last night, Disney Junior ran "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" -- and you could see Wilson's Esmeralda animated. The animation popped with the illusion of life.

Buy this and enjoy. I have to track down the adventures of Captain Pistol and his pirates who sail on the Sea Mutt.

About the Author
Raymond H. Myers, PhD, is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Statistics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has more than forty years of academic experience in the areas of experimental design and analysis, response surface analysis, and designs for nonlinear models. A Fellow of the American Statistical Society, Dr. Myers is the coauthor of numerous books including Response Surface Methodology: Process and Product Optimization Using Designed Experiments, Third Edition (Wiley).

Douglas C. Montgomery, PhD, is Regents' Professor of Industrial Engineering and Statistics at Arizona State University. Dr. Montgomery has more than thirty years of academic and consulting experience and has devoted his research to engineering statistics, specifically the design and analysis of experiments. He has authored or coauthored numerous journal articles and twelve books, including Response Surface Methodology: Process and Product Optimization Using Designed Experiments, Third Edition; Introduction to Linear Regression Analysis, Fourth Edition; and Introduction to Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, all published by Wiley.

G. Geoffrey Vining, PhD, is Professor in the Department of Statistics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. My conclusion is that four prestigious authors who did not have time to read each other’s garbage wrote this book

This book is completely unreliable. It has hundreds of typographical and conceptual errors, including many errors in its formulas. When I became aware of all this book’s problems, I decided to use it only as a source of datasets for my GLM course, not as a textbook as I originally intended to. However, today I realized that one of its datasets has many errors too. Specifically, Table 6.1 corresponding to a "Respiratory Example" is completely different from the original data in Stokes, Davis and Koch (1995) book, which is cited as the source of the table. The book website provides a file with this table’s data, but the data in that file is completely different from the original data. My conclusion is that the four authors of this book did not take seriously the task of writing it.

This edition (2nd) of this excellent book has many typos and errors. I am very disappointed that so far, no errata are available online. I hope the errors will be corrected in future printings.
